Cristiano Ronaldo could not help but show his contempt as he overheard a small group of fans chanting Lionel Messi’s name during Real Madrid’s Club World Cup semi-final against Al Jazira.
The Portuguese was busy trying to stop an almighty shock as the Champions League winners fell behind to the UAE Arabian Gulf League side but was visibly irked by the sound of ‘Messi’ coming from the stands.
The Beautiful Game
As fans chanted the Barcelona star’s name, Ronaldo turned towards them and clenched his fists before turning away to resume with his matchday duties.
He did his best to exert revenge on those fans, scoring the equalising goal in the second half before Gareth Bale completed the comeback to send Real Madrid into Saturday’s final against Gremio.
Insane Goals in Training
Of course, Ronaldo has already proved he is currently considered to be the better player compared to Messi after winning the Ballon d’Or for a fifth time in his career and a fourth in the last five years.
His latest Golden Ball was enough to see him draw level with the Argentine for the all-time record and he confidently stated at last week’s ceremony that he should now be considered the greatest of all time.
Andrew Henderson showing his skills to Cristiano
‘I’m the best player in history, in the good moments and the bad ones,’ he told France Football, the magazine that organises the award.
‘I respect everyone’s preferences, but I’ve never seen anyone better than me. I have always thought that. No footballer can do the things I can. There’s no player more complete than me.
‘I play well with both feet, I’m quick, powerful, good with the head, I score goals, I make assists. There are guys who prefer Neymar or Messi. But I tell you: there’s no-one more complete than me.’
Can you do this Skill?
Although he may have convinced himself of that claim, there are a small group of fans in the United Arab Emirates that still appear to see otherwise.
Cristiano Ronaldo produced an unselfish gesture for Karim Benzema in Real Madrid’s 4-0 victory over Alaves on Saturday – and fans were blown away.
Cristiano can do it all!
The 33-year-old scored a brace either side of a Gareth Bale strike to take his tally to 28 for the season.
But when a chance came for him to score his 50th career hat-trick and 300th La Liga goal, Ronaldo turned it down.
Alaves’s Victor Laguardia clipped Bale inside his own box in the game’s final minutes to hand Real a late penalty.
The Beautiful Game
Ronaldo, who is Los Blancos’ regular penalty taker, handed the responsibility over to Benzema – who has struggled for goals this season, scoring just seven.
The Frenchman duly converted the spot kick and wrapped up all three points for Zinedine Zidane’s side.
Like Father Like Son
Viewers were ultimately blown away by Ronaldo’s unselfish gesture and took to Twitter to show their appreciation.
One fan tweeted: “Cristiano Ronaldo what a human he has become, gave the penalty to Benzema.”
While another added: “Ronaldo gave Benzema the penalty that would’ve gave him the hattrick. Beautiful moment, I almost cried.”
